The Dean – The Very Reverend Dr Jason Bray

Jason is originally from Merthyr Tydfil, and he has served his entire ordained ministry in the Church in Wales since his ordination in 1997 by Bishop Rowan Williams.

With a doctorate in Theology and a passionate interest in Biblical scholarship, medieval and reformation history, Jason is a published author, teacher of the faith, and an experienced church leader. The publication of his book, Deliverance: Everyday Investigations into the Supernatural, about his life and experiences as an Anglican deliverance minister has meant that he is well-known in circles outside the Church in Wales.

Jason was previously Vicar of St Giles’ Wrexham, which is part of the Major Churches Network and is Wales’ largest medieval parish church, where he strengthened and grew the congregation at St Giles’, developing its civic, media and national links as well as its life of prayer and service whilst working to increase visitor numbers significantly.

He is married to Laura. They have two grown up sons, Thomas and Benedict, and three cats.

Chair of Chapter – Mrs Ceri Weatherall

Ceri was appointed Lay Canon in June 2019 on her retirement as Head Teacher of St Teilo’s Church-in-Wales High School, the largest Faith school in Wales. She taught for 37 years of which 32 were spent working in Church-in-Wales High Schools.

Ceri has extensive experience of teaching, leadership and management within the education sector. Under Ceri’s leadership St Teilo’s school population increased by a third to 1500 students which was housed in a building fit to meet the needs of an economic and socially diverse community. She established an education provision that focused on: Excellence, Equity and Faith for all in her care. This experience of leading a public facing organisation has provided Chapter with advice and guidance regarding Safeguarding, Human Resources and Budget Responsibility.

In 2023 Ceri took on the role of Vice-Chair of Chapter. In this role she has chaired Chapter meetings, appointed and supported Cathedral Staff and with colleagues set out strategic objectives that are transformative, inclusive and transparent.

Ceri has two children and lives with her husband Malcolm in St Fagans. She worships at St Mary’s St Fagans, a church within the Garth Ministry Area. She has previously lived and worked in Llandaff and has welcomed the opportunity as a Lay Canon to re-engage with the families and community she once worshiped alongside and whose many children she had the privilege of teaching.
