The Dean and Chapter are delighted to announce that, following a rigorous and transparent recruitment exercise, the trustees have approved the appointment of Hefin Owen as a Lay Canon and charity trustee.
As a director of Rondo Media, Hefin is a renowned Radio and TV producer. A graduate of Pembroke College Cambridge, Hefin started work as a studio manager with BBC Radio. He discovered and nurtured the treble voice of Aled Jones producing most of his early recordings. He has worked with a wide array of hugely talented performers, from Luciano Pavarotti to Kiri te Kanawa, from Bryn Terfel to Valery Gergiev. Hefin has won numerous awards for his programmes, including Celtic Media and Bafta Cymru awards for his documentaries on Llŷr Williams and Catrin Finch. Hefin has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the Cathedral. As a member of the Guild of Stewards, he attends the 11am Sunday Eucharist on a regular basis and is a fluent Welsh speaker. Hefin has two sons who were both choristers in the Cathedral choir.
